“The Idaho Department of Lands (IDL) has initiated negotiated rulemaking for IDAPA 20.01.04, Rules Pertaining to Forest Fire Protection. Public meetings are scheduled across the state in October and November for public participation in person or by phone. The IDL fire protection rules aim to lessen the risk of fire starts from forest operations on forest lands in Idaho. Idaho forest landowners logging contractors, forest industry representatives, and others who conduct forest operations that require a compliance from the IDL are affected by the rules and encouraged to weigh in and participate in the rulemaking process. The meetings in Coeur d’Alene will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Oct. 30 and Nov. 13 at the Best Western Coeur d’Alene Inn, 506 W. Appleway Ave. Individuals who would like to participate but cannot attend one of the meetings in person can participate by phone by calling 1-877-820-7831 and entering participation code 8682870#. Written public comments on the negotiated rules will be accepted through December 15, 2017. Information about the fire rulemaking process is available on the IDL website.
